The FIV-HealthScience Help & Support Group

This forum, associated with groups.yahoo.com, came officially into being on August 13, 2006. FIV-HealthScience is composed of present and former owners of cats infected with the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), as well as those with a special interest in the disease. Our mission is to provide help for cats infected with FIV (sometimes misleadingly called Feline AIDS) and for their human companions, and also to deepen the understanding of all members about the primary disease, the secondary health problems it can cause, and potential treatment for both. To that end, we encourage members to actively participate in exploring all scientifically valid avenues of knowledge. Sharing of our cats’ health experiences broadens the base of knowledge, and so benefits everyone. We hope that all members will pass on what they have thought, seen, and learned in informal discussions in a moderated setting, secure from intrusion. An introductory post is required of all new members upon joining.

FIV-HealthScience does not assist with rescue, shelter, TNR, foster care, or adoption. People with needs that fall in those areas will be redirected to groups that are able to meet them. Each month a new FIV Cat of the Month will appear on the Home Page photo feature.
